Middle East and weapons for Ukraine: Zelensky assessed the risks for air defense supplies

The escalation of the situation in the Middle East has raised a new question in the European and Ukrainian agenda — will military operations against Iran affect the volumes of Western military aid to Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that at the moment, Kyiv has not received any signals about a reduction in arms supplies.

According to the Ukrainian leader, key support programs continue to operate without changes, but long-term escalation in the region still remains a risk factor.

Arms supplies remain stable

What Kyiv says after consultations with partners

Answering journalists’ questions, Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized: the issue of providing air defense systems remains critically important for Ukraine.

This primarily concerns missiles for air defense — a resource directly related to the protection of cities, energy infrastructure, and the civilian population.

The President reported that he is constantly in contact with allies and discusses the situation against the backdrop of events in the Middle East. According to him, shortly before speaking with the press, he had a conversation with the German Chancellor, where the topic of military supplies was raised separately.

Zelensky noted that neither from the US nor from European partners have there been any signals about possible delays or revisions of commitments.

The international support program PURL, which includes the supply of critically important weapons, continues to operate in normal mode.

Possible risks in a protracted conflict

Why the Middle East still affects Ukraine

The Ukrainian president acknowledged that a prolonged war in the region could theoretically change global security priorities and the distribution of military resources.

If hostilities drag on, part of the production capacities and arms stocks of Western countries may be redistributed among several crisis directions simultaneously.

Nevertheless, Kyiv is betting on reducing dependence on external factors.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine intends to strengthen its own defense production and maintain internal financing of the military industry so that the national sector operates at maximum capacity regardless of international conditions.

In this context, as previously noted by the editorial staff of НАновости — Новости Израиля | Nikk.Agency, global conflicts are increasingly interconnected: the security of Europe, the Middle East, and Ukraine forms a single strategic space.

New balance of global security

Today, Western allies are simultaneously responding to several crises — Russia’s war against Ukraine and tensions around Iran. This requires a more flexible model of military cooperation and resource coordination.

Kyiv’s statements demonstrate cautious optimism: current partner commitments are maintained, and the support system for Ukraine continues to work.

However, the strategic conclusion remains obvious — the longer instability persists in the Middle East, the more global security turns into an interdependent system, where events in one region inevitably reflect on another.
