The Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk, stated that at the moment, a mass evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Israel is not required. As of the evening of March 2, 2026, the embassy received 25 requests from Ukrainians wishing to leave.
This mainly concerns tourists and pilgrims who did not expect to find themselves in the conditions of escalation in the Middle East.
How many Ukrainians want to evacuate
In a comment to ‘Radio Liberty,’ the diplomat clarified that the embassy has no information about any Ukrainian citizens killed or injured as a result of the current events.
The 25 requests concern people who arrived in Israel for a short term — as part of pilgrimage tours or to visit relatives and acquaintances.
According to the ambassador, there have been no requests from Ukrainians who found themselves without housing or means of subsistence.
Will a centralized evacuation be organized
Korniychuk emphasized that if the number of people wishing to leave Israel exceeds 100, the embassy will consider the possibility of involving private companies to organize special flights.
So far, there is no such necessity.
Is it necessary to urgently leave Israel
According to the ambassador’s assessment, there is currently no urgent need for evacuation. One of the key factors he mentioned is the 24-hour operational border crossing with Egypt.
You can reach the border point by bus or private transport, after which it takes about two hours to get to Sharm El Sheikh.
During a recent attack, Ukrainian delegations were already transported to the Egyptian border, demonstrating the technical feasibility of the route.
The embassy continues to operate as usual: a hotline is functioning, requests are accepted by email, and consuls are receiving visitors.
How the current situation differs from previous ones
According to the diplomat, the nature of the alarms in Israel differs from the Ukrainian experience.
Air raid signals sound, but they are shorter in duration — on average 15–20 minutes. After the signal, people go down to shelters and then return to their daily activities.
The ambassador specifically emphasized the need to strictly follow the instructions of the Israeli Home Front Command. Following the instructions, he said, significantly reduces risks to life and health.
NANews — Israel News | Nikk.Agency previously noted that in the conditions of regional escalation, not only the military component plays an important role, but also the ability of states to ensure clear communication with citizens and organize safe exit routes.
Recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the general context
On February 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommended that citizens refrain from traveling to Israel and Iran. Those already in the region are advised either to leave at the first opportunity or to strictly observe safety measures.
Ukrainians are recommended to avoid places of mass gatherings, constantly monitor official notifications from authorities, have documents with them, and know in advance the location of the nearest shelters.
At the moment, it is not about a mass exodus, but about specific requests. The diplomatic mission continues to monitor the situation.
The issue of large-scale evacuation can only be raised in the event of a sharp deterioration in the situation or a significant increase in the number of requests to leave.
